Cricket Wishaw .v. Aston Old Edwardians
On a sunny afternoon at Church Lane Wishaw a splendid turn out saw Aston Old Edwardians win this one off match by 4 wickets. Chasing 206 to win after the hosts had posted 205 for 7 in their 35 overs Charlie Singh hit the winning runs in the penultimate over.
Nigel Johns made his first appearance since 2002 and took a couple of wickets whilst the majority of the Aston runs came from Rob Wem (72) and David Parsons (50 not out.
Aston were able to rotate their fielders as 12 players plus 2 young sons formed a 14 man squad.
Team: Daniel Alford, Steve Taylor, Andy Cronin, Alex Christoforou, Rob Wem, Alan Parsons, Nigel Johns, David Parsons, Charlie Singh, Nick Garner, Jack Taylor, Rob Crowley, Oliver Wem, Nathan Cronin.
There was a good turn out to watch from former players ,Bob stait, Graham Wem, Len Johns, Martin Studholme, Nigel Jackson plus associated family. It was a throwback to the 70's when good family support was the norm. Just a pity we cannot all recycle ourselves and start playing regularly again.
