Date: Sat 18th November
Match: AOE 1sts v Stourbridge Lions ( League )
Result: Lions 8 -- 13 Aston Old Eds.
Report:
Aston sent a much changed side to Stourbridge and their expectations were not high but they produced a strong performance and came away with the spoils to the surprise of many. Lions, however, had the better of the early play, exerting pressure through their forwards but Aston's defence held its ground until the home side posted the first score with a pushover try from a well executed catch and drive. This proved to be the only score of the first half but Aston opened up powerfully in the second period and Wall was able to put over a penalty from the pressure. Aston began to establish some real superiority and began to push the Lions about in the scrum. Tovey, for the visitors, made a break and finished it off with a try for Aston to take the lead but it was not long before the Lions equalised with a penalty. Aston made their mistakes in this period but eventually gained a good field position and were able to work their own line out catch and drive to good effect for veteran hooker, Yau, to claim the glory from the maul. This put the seal on the game as Aston showed themselves to be the stronger finishers on the day.

The Seconds , much weakened, went down 46-12 at Bridgnorth with a try for Harvey and the Thirds also lost 43-12 with tries for Mohammed and Platt who also bagged a conversion.
