Match: AOE 1sts v Wednesbury ( League )
Result: Wednesbury 12 -- 12 Aston Old Eds
Report:

Aston made the short trip to Wednesbury and came away with a draw after taking what they hoped would be a decisive lead in the very early part of the match. They opened up with a try from Wilson who chased an up and under from Wall and beat the defence to the touchdown. Maksymczuk kicked the conversion and Aston returned to the attack. Aston's backs were given room at this stage and Wilson used the space well. From a Wednesbury line out Aston won the ball and exerted pressure in the left hand corner. Wilson did good work on the ball before unloading out of the tackle to Zarifeh who went over for the try which Maksymczuk could not convert. Wednesbury's forwards woke up and realised that they could give Aston a much harder time though they could not threaten Aston in the backs. Their forwards ground it out and kept Aston pinned in their 22 for some time and their pressure almost paid rewards when they were only denied by the corner flag. Aston made a late effort before half time and drove the home forwards back thirty metres. Within two metres of the line the attack failed but the visitors sustained their effort up to the whistle.
Taking a 12 point lead into the second period Aston were confident but the Wednesbury forwards were to write the script for the next forty minutes. Their fly half used the boot well and the forwards drove Aston back from good field positions. Maksymczuk, at full back for Aston, was called upon many times to field the high ball and did this well. Eventually, Aston's defence broke after Wednesbury had put together some impressive charges through backs and forwards. They scored a try which they could not convert but it put them back in the game and this was enough to inspire them to a second, well deserved try which they converted to level the scores. Aston had a chance with a penalty but it rebounded off the bar and Wednesbury also missed a penalty close to the finish but the referee blew for full time with honours even.

The Seconds had a good win at Spartans 16-7 with a try for Bradley and three penalties and a conversion for Platt. The Thirds lost 17-5 to Spartans with a try for Quick whilst the Fourths went down by a lot to Sutton.
