Aston took the advantage of the slope for the first period and got off to a lively start. From a line out they drove their opponents back and were awarded a penalty. Grice took it quickly and burrowed his way across the line for an astute try which went unconverted. Both sides tried to run the ball and Wood, for Aston, made some good ground. Gradually Wolverhampton got the better possession and missed a penalty before succeeding at the second attempt. Aston hit back shortly before the break when Goldsmith led the charge from a line out and Stanley emerged from the ruck to claim the try which, again, was not converted. Beyond the break Aston were soon on the offensive and a cross kick from Wall was cleverly fielded by Allsopp who grounded the ball but not to the satisfaction of the referee. From the resulting scrum Aston's forwards put on a great drive and Stanley was able to score his second try which Toole, this time, converted. Aston now were making most of the running but Wolverhampton mounted some strong. if sporadic attacks. Wall, for Aston, intercepted a loose pass and made progress until he was obstructed after his kick. The penalty gave Vlahakis a try from the powerful drive mounted by the home side but Wolverhampton scored a try of thir own when their scrum half nipped in unopposed from the base of a five metre scrum and the try was converted.. Toole kicked a penalty for Aston before Wolverhampton scored a second try to reduce the margin but this concluded the scoring and Aston took the league points.
The Seconds won at Wolverhampton 29-5 with tries for Morris, Morgan, Watts and Platt who also got three conversions and a penalty. The Fourths also won 27-24 against Handsworth Seconds with tries for Hart(two), Vlahakis, Pearson and Marshall and Glasby bagged a conversion.
