Date: Sat 17th march
Match: AOE 1sts v Burntwood. ( League. )
Result: Burntwood 3 -- 52 Aston Old Eds.
Report:

Aston continued the recent improvement at Burntwood and put plenty of points on the board, which they have not managed for some while. The play was flowing with excellent backing up and close support work from all. Toole slotted in well to his new position at fly half and a plentiful supply of ball enabled him to orchestrate a confident display from the backs who scored six tries. Burntwood had their chances but, on the occasion, could turn in no product other than the penalty which they kicked to bag the first points of the day. Four tries were scored before the break by Aston and another four followed in the second period as the forwards kept up the pressure on their opponents. The forwards made a solid, cohesive unit and Goodwin scored two tries, one from a kick off when he made sixty metres through a crowded defence. Notable performances also came from Phipps, Cambridge and captain, Goldsmith. Grice scored a try nipping over from a ruck whilst Toole and McNamee also got one each but the star in the backs was Tovey who ran in an impressive hat trick.

The Seconds took part in the Kidderminster Cup and qualified for the Final on April 1st with wins over Kidderminster 7-5 and Dixonians 61-0. The Thirds beat Exiles 26-7 with three tries for Tucker, one for Marshall and three conversions from Glasby. The Colts went down to an established outfit from Walsall. Aston will play their long awaited Cup game on Sunday at home to Pershore with a 2p.m. kick off.
