Match: AOE 1sts v Old Dixonians ( League. )
Result: Old Dixonians 11 -- 11 Aston Old Eds.
Report:

Dixonians, newly promoted this season, put on a stronger show than Aston expected at Moor Lane. There was an early flurry of scoring with a penalty for Dixonians and a try for Aston. Wood claimed the score, doing well to get the touchdown between two opponents, after a clever chip and chase. The conversion sailed wide, however. The match was much of a midfield stalemate for a while with both sides attempting to test the other in attack but each set of defenders able to frustrate these efforts. Dixonians added to their score and stole the lead with a long range penalty which Aston had the opportunity to cancel out, but they were off target with the kick. Dixonians then mounted a period of heavy pressure with Aston being penalised heavily. Dixonians opted to scrummage and took one against the head which enabled fly half, Best, to cross Aston's line in the left hand corner with the conversion going astray.
Aston began the second half with a strong attack and Platts was able to kick a penalty to reduce the deficit but a bit too much adventure caused a penalty attempt for Dixonians which was unsuccessful. The inside centre for Dixonians posed a threat throughout and was well policed by Wood and Chesnor. Eventually Platts again put points on the board which tied the score and the game finished with Aston on the attack.

The Seconds made a 14 - 14 draw with Handsworth Firsts. Midgeley and Bevan scored tries and Maksymczuk kicked two conversions. The Thirds went down 20-5 against Handsworth Seconds with a try for Vincent. The Fourths had a solid win 26-12. Andrews got two tries, Beard and Tucker got one each. Markham kicked two conversions and Andrews got one.
