Date: Sat 27th October 2007.
Match: AOE 1sts v Shrewsbury ( League. )
Result: Shrewsbury 25 -- 11 Aston Old Eds.
Report:
Aston made a bright and breezy start after their journey to Shrewsbury, taking a significant lead before surrendering to a strong fightback by the home team. Aston had the better of the territorial battle in the early stages and Chesnor was able to put over a penalty and then repeat the exercise in short order. Aston followed this up with a strong rolling maul and Grice found his way across the whitewash with the conversion off target. They looked well set but this was the high water mark for them as Shrewsbury improved their showing up front and put the visitors under pressure. The line out began to suffer as the game progressed and Aston's play became too loose for comfort. Shrewsbury scored a converted try after the break and then a penalty before going on to strike hard in the last ten minutes of the game with two tries, one of them converted, and finished the job with a drop goal for a deserved win.

The Seconds and the Fourths both had good wins whilst the Thirds were let down at the last minute when their opponents cancelled the game. Aston are at home on Saturday to Stafford.
