Match: AOE 1sts v Worcester Wanderers. ( North Mids Shield. )
Result: Aston Old Eds 23 - 0 Worcester Wanderers
Report:
Aston made progress in the North Mids Shield with a solid win over Worcester Wanderers at Perry Common. Aston played against the slope but stayed in the Wanderers' half and were rewarded with two penalty goals from Chesnor. They built on this lead with a try for Wall who took a short pass from Chesnor after an excellent break from Allsopp. Chesnor slotted the easy conversion from in front of the posts to give Aston a 13 point lead at the interval. Both sides had tried to run the ball and Wanderers had been industrious without being able to make good headway. The second period saw much of the same with Aston increasingly making the running with the advantage of the slope. Aston launched a decisive attack when Platts made good ground before passing inside to number eight, Woodward, who crossed near the corner with the conversion going astray. Wanderers stuck to their guns, trying hard but without strike players and, though they got a respectable share of possession, they were not able to break the Aston defence. The home side saved their best try of the game till last. Platts collected a long clearance kick and first class handling and support work put Tarpey in the clear. He drew the last defender and passed adroitly to Horrocks who claimed the try at the corner to close the scoring and give Aston a comfortable margin.

The Seconds went down 22-20 at Halesonians with tries for Morris, Morgan and Fulthorpe and a conversion and a penalty for Maksymczuk. The Thirds got a try through Buckle but lost to Halesonians 19-5 and the Fourths put up a tough battle against Barbarians Seconds and went down 40-14. Latsun and Evans scored tries and Jarvis got two conversions.
